We believe the gang concerned are based in the Wanstead area but have been touring Greater London in a minibus'
Locals also reported that the miscreants brought their own choir who provided vocal accompaniment to the crime in the form of loud, slurred singing, the repetitious
nature of which seemed to concern a Mr Jackson coming home.

THE GREAT ANT MENACE - DON'T PANIC, SAYS EXPERT
Emergency services in the Wanstead and South Woodford areas were placed on red alert on Monday evening following another outbreak of flying ants at Wanstead Central Bowling Club.
Paramedics have already been over-stretched since the first reports of the ants two weeks ago. Since then, they have caused havoc on bowling greens and in gardens, with the elderly said to be especially at risk. An ambulance service spokesman said: "These ants may look innocuous, but they have become adept at tripping people and residents of the areas concerned should take extreme care while the trouble lasts."
The new outbreak at Central caused considerable alarm. Some wanted the afternoon's games called off, others even suggested it was time the whole area was evacuated. Another demanded: "It's high time the authorities did something. They must have seen this disaster coming. Why weren't they prepared? Why weren't we warned?"
An expert on ants from the British Natural History Museum was sent to the bowling club to investigate. He told our reporter that he has found evidence that the flying ants were once bred in the Wanstead area by an order of Trippist Monks, who bred them as a delicacy to be coated with treacle from the once-famous treacle mines in Buckhurst Hill.
"It was thought that the ants had died out long ago," he said. "But my conclusion is that they have merely been laying dormant and have been re-activated by a series of long hot summers, followed by an extremely wet one."
A Health and Safety expert said the authorities had considered closing the bowls club. "We don't want to spoil people's enjoyment, but this cannot be allowed to go on. We shall be monitoring the situation closely and, in the meantime, advise people not to panic, but to take extreme caution."
A spokesman for the British Insurance Association warned club treasurers that premiums may have to rise if claims for injury compensation continue to flood in.

Letters To The Editor
"As a resident of Wanstead, I was surfing the net last night, looking for local activities, when I came across
Wanstead Central's site.
I was struck by your advertisement feature offering help for those injured in accidents.
By an amazing coincidence, we have had recently, in my neck of the woods, an outbreak of accidents
of the sort you describe. Several people have reported being tripped by large flying ants in their gardens or on their patios.
Indeed, one of them may be known to you. I know him only slightly, but I know that he is a bowler. His name is Tony - a tall, rather distinguished looking chap with dark hair, slightly tinged with grey.
He is known in the district as a man of the most moderate habits and as one not given to flights of fancy. He has reported that he was tripped by one of these ants some days ago and suffered considerable pain as a result.
The accident happened on the very evening of the day an outbreak of ants was noticed during a game on your green, so it seems that the club are responsible for the havoc these creatures have caused.
Tony is not the sort to make a fuss about such matters, but it would seem he has a cast-iron case for compensation. When next I see him I shall certainly advise him to contact you.
Perhaps you would like to suggest the amount of compensation he would expect if the case were to come to court. Or you may think the club would be better advised to try for an immediate out-of court settlement.
I may add that I am myself a lawyer specialising in lengthy and expensive litigation."
Name and address withheld pending legal action.
If anyone could help with the identification of a member of the club named Tony that fits the description
"distinguished looking chap" please get in contact with us as we are at a loss to place him. Ed.
